Voting by mail

Mail ballots began going out Sept. 24. Request one by 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 through the Supervisor of Elections, where you can also track your ballot. Sign the back of the return envelope. The office must receive your ballot by 7 p.m. Nov. 3; a postmark does not count. If a signature problem is found, the cure deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5.

What to bring: ID

Florida requires photo and signature ID. Accepted forms include a Florida driver license or ID card, U.S. passport, debit or credit card, military ID, student ID, retirement center ID, neighborhood association ID, public assistance ID, a Florida concealed weapon license, a government employee ID and a VA health ID card. If your photo ID has no signature, bring a second ID that does. Without ID you can vote a provisional ballot, which the canvassing board reviews.

What is on the ballot

The state’s notice of general election lists races for U.S. Senate; Congress, District 21; governor and the Cabinet; state House Districts 84 and 85; circuit and county judges; St. Lucie County Commission Districts 2 and 4; and School Board Districts 1, 3 and 5, plus seats on several community development districts.

City of Port St. Lucie: the mayor’s seat and City Council Districts 1 and 3 came up in 2026. City races are nonpartisan, with a primary on Aug. 18 and the general election on Nov. 3, according to the City Clerk. Check your sample ballot for which city races remain.

Measures the city has highlighted for Port St. Lucie voters:

  • Amendment 3, a statewide property tax measure that needs 60% to pass. See our property tax guide.
  • A countywide referendum to renew the half-cent sales tax, approved in 2018 and set to expire in 2028.
  • A non-binding straw poll on twice-a-week garbage pickup for an extra fee.

Polling place changes

Voters in Precincts 39 and 52 will vote at Lakewood Park Church instead of the Spanish Lakes Country Club clubhouse on Nov. 3, the Supervisor of Elections announced. Everyone else: confirm your precinct with the lookup tool before Election Day.
