Port St. Lucie’s public schools are run by St. Lucie Public Schools, the countywide district that also serves Fort Pierce and the rest of St. Lucie County. The city itself does not run schools. School zones do not follow city limits, and for most grades they are not neighborhood lines at all:
- Elementary and middle grades use three regional zones. Midway Road and Florida’s Turnpike divide them: Green north of Midway Road, Blue south of Midway and east of the Turnpike, Red south of Midway and west of the Turnpike. Families rank the schools in their zone, with preference for siblings and for children within two miles, according to the district’s Student Assignment office.
- High school follows the home ZIP code under the district’s high school zone chart (PDF). Port St. Lucie is split among five high schools, one of them, Fort Pierce Central, in Fort Pierce.
